Old Yet Magnificent

On Day 1 of the India trip I discovered the breathtaking beauty of Mughal Architecture that has been epitomized in 4 kinds of buildings - a fort, a mosque, a palace and a tomb. Here are some thoughts about the first two.

Passengers like Kali make for an enjoyable flight; I remember his smiling face and even his seat #, 43c, and the fact that despite his particular seat being in the worst possible location, near an often noisy galley and adjacent to numerous passengers in cue for the aft left lavatory, he maintained a jovialness that, as Kali alluded to in his article, was easily remembered. (I also remember that he was sitting next to the prettiest girl on the flight which may have had something to do with his charming demeanor!) Regarding Kali's one particular comment about many of our flight attendants being ill-suited for this particular, demanding flight. It is true that there are many, but they are still in the minority. We at Continental, with all humility, have won all the major flight attendant as well as Airline awards, including the JD Powers awards, numerous times. In fact, no other Airline has ever won it back to back, as have we, or 4 times consecutively. We were recently named, again, Fortune Magazines most admired airline IN THE WORLD; much of this has to do with the professionalism, the interpersonal skills, and the cultural awarnesses of "Most" of our flight attendants. Despite the special skills required to satisfy our customers of Indian descent, I find that a quick smile and a sense of humor work will...Indians appreciate a respectful, if teasing, sense of humor and are quick to convey their appreciation of one, as well as what is considered optimal customer service. Kudos to you, Kali, for a well-written article....Eric Mariani, Continental Airlines Crewmember

PS Did you get the young lady's phone number? :-)
